*** All New Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE Announced ***
Adventure Calling for the new Kawasaki Versys 1000.
A radical upgrade focusing on a wide range of refinements and innovations making it
the most accomplished iteration yet created.
Featuring Kawasaki’s IMU linked cornering management function
to enable a total engine and chassis management package.
The Versys 1000 SE, the top of line machine for 2019. - Taking the Versys concept to a new level,
not only are a TFT meter panel and LED cornering lights part of the specification, but also electronically controlled front and rear suspension is fitted for the first time along with a Kawasaki quick shifter for fast and seamless changes up and down the gearbox allied to an assist and slipper clutch common to both variants of the Versys 1000. With smartphone connectivity between rider and machine now possible thanks to the new Kawasaki Rideology App, Versys 1000 SE owners can not only adjust their suspension via their smartphone screen but also see riding logs, service and oil change intervals plus clever additional items like the display of received phone calls and incoming email arrival.
Electronic Cruise Control
Kawasaki’s cruise control system allows a desired speed to be maintained with the simple press of a button. Once activated, the rider does not have to constantly apply the throttle. This reduces stress on the right hand when traveling long distances, enabling relaxed cruising and contributing to a high level of riding comfort.
Radial-Mount Front Brake Calipers
The ø310 mm front petal discs are now gripped by highly rigid radial-mount monobloc calipers complemented by a radial-pump front brake master cylinder, contributing to superb feel and formidable stopping power.
KECS (Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension)
The Versys 1000 SE model comes with KECS which is based on the semi-active system that debuting on the 2018 Ninja ZX-10R SE, KECS adapts to road and riding conditions in real time, providing the ideal amount of damping called for. Combining high-level mechanical components with the latest electronic control technology, KECS offers both the suppleness to handle a wide range of riding situations, as well as the firm damping to facilitate sport riding. The tyres feel planted, delivering confidence when cornering. On the Versys 1000 SE, KECS also includes electronically adjustable rear preload – a first for Kawasaki. Riders can choose from three payload modes (each with +5/-5 adjustment):
Rider with luggage
Rider with passenger and luggage
KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter)
Complementing the Versys 1000’s exhilarating engine character, the SE model's standard equipment includes a quick shifter that enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and quick and easy deceleration.
*The quick shifter is also available as an accessory for the standard Versys 1000*
From the new twin headlamps and compact LED turn signals to the new LED taillight and LED licence plate bulb, the Versys 1000 offers an all-LED lighting package.
LED Cornering Lights
Lights built into the shrouds help illuminate the road when cornering at night. Each of the three lights has a fixed direction and is activated based on lean angle. As the bike leans over, the lights come on in order, creating a wider illuminated path in the direction the bike is heading. These are not an accessory but only available on the SE model.
Integrated Riding Modes
Sport, Road, Rain, Rider (manual)
All-inclusive modes that link KTRC, Power Mode and KECS come only on the SE model and allow riders to efficiently set traction control, power delivery and suspension character to suit a given riding situation.
Complementing the Versys 1000 SE's TFT dashboard is a Bluetooth chip built into the instrument panel which enables riders to connect to their motorcycle wirelessly. Using the smartphone application “RIDEOLOGY THE APP,” a number of instrument functions can be accessed, contributing to an enhanced motorcycling experience.
Assist & Slipper Clutch
Race-inspired clutch technology offers both a back-torque limiting function as well as a very light feel at the lever.
Highly Durable Paint
Kawasaki’s new Highly Durable paint and Highly Durable matte paint on the Versys 1000 SE model feature a special coat that allows scratches to repair themselves, enabling the paint to maintain its high-quality finish.
KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function)
IMU-Equipped Total Engine & Chassis Management Package
Using the latest evolution of Kawasaki’s advanced modelling software and feedback from a compact Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the corner – from entry, through the apex, to corner exit – modulating brake force and engine power to facilitate smooth transition from acceleration to braking and back again, and to assist riders in tracing their intended line through the corner. On the Versys 1000, KCMF oversees the following systems:
KECS (SE-only feature)
KIBS (including pitching management and corner braking management)
